Resolve the Claim

Claims adjusters and examiners need to reduce uncertainty and document their files before settling a claim. If it was a covered cause of loss, a short report stating the cause of the loss is what is needed. If it was an excluded loss, careful documentation of the loss and a short report stating the cause of loss is what is needed. In more complicated cases, there may be the potential for subrogation, contractor or product liability. If there is solid evidence to pursue these alternatives then the client wants to know. If not, they just want a simplified report to document their file.

The adjuster's job is a complex one. Sometimes a client appreciates when the investigation can be coordinated with their site visit for many reasons:

We will accompany the client to site and carry on our investigation while the client takes care of other aspects of the claim with the insured. Particularly for fires, we may arrange with the client and insured to arrive an hour early so our investigation is well underway before the client arrives. Should there be any questions, we are already on-site. We make it a top priority to schedule investigations to coincide with the adjuster's site visit when requested.
